Why You Need a Teacher

Yesterday, as I was lesson planning, I did a little research online. I was hoping to find out more information about Boogie-Woogie bass lines than I already know.

I know quite a bit, but since the internet is a big, wide world, I thought I would be able to round out my knowledge.

I was wrong.

I found two types of websites:

1) websites that gave me good information that I already knew.

2) websites using AI to create content that was full of garbage.

In most of the AI-created websites, the use of AI was pretty obvious. In the middle of a paragraph on bass lines, the text was suddenly about Black Diamond ski slopes and the steepness of the Alps

WHAT?!?!?!

Another article was supposed to be about "simple bass lines" but ended up being about how to be a good bass player and started discussing professional running in the middle of it.

I don't think someone would be fooled into thinking they got good information from these websites. That's not the problem.

The problem is that my time was wasted. And so was everyone else's time who visited that site thinking they were going to learn something.

I don't know about you, but I am getting pretty fed up with AI.

I admit that I have used it to refine some of my wording when writing copy for social media.

But lately I have wasted time reading a story or article or watching a video only to realize it is AI.

Have you seen those ridiculous animal videos with the cats and bears getting spooked? We can't help but see them when they cross our feed. They're just about forced into our eyes!

It's so annoying.

My time is valuable. And so is yours.

You don't have time to search for answers where they don't exist.

You don't have energy for false promises of good information.

You don't have the capacity for videos that look fancy with all the bright, dancing lights but really aren't teaching you anything about how to finger a song properly or how to play with expression.

It can get discouraging and confusing chasing down and trying to find what you need to learn and get better.

When I did my research yesterday, I discovered I already had everything I needed in my office. I had a book to reference. I already knew as much (and more) than what I found online due to my personal experience playing jazz, blues and boogie-woogie.

My expertise and knowledge come from many, many years of playing many different genres of music, studying theory and composition, and gathering real resources that aren't tainted by AI.

So, I can help you.
